If you've read my blog about Olivia & Chris's wedding at Cliveden, you'll know that it was one of my "venues I'd love to shoot a wedding at" list (think Ross's laminated celebrity freebie list). Notley Abbey for wedding photography is 100% on that list, for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, it's a stunning venue. The historic abbey and former home of Laurence Olivier is the dream wedding venue on so many levels. Beautifully kept grounds and gardens, light and airy rooms ideal for ceremonies and a the grand refectory to host those post ceremony parties. It's an incredible backdrop for photos - more on those shortly.
And secondly, I can, save for a few trees, see it from my house! It's that close. We occasionally enjoy the odd fireworks display through the summer months from weddings held there. Enough of that - back to Georgia & Tom.
I love learning about wedding plans when couples first contact me to enquire about shooting their wedding. And then as time goes on, once bookings have been secured, and the plans develop, my excitement for a wedding probably matches that of the couples'. The anticipation is palpable and this wedding was no different. An elegant colour scheme of soft greens and off whites coupled with dinner suits for the men. And there were a lot of men. Tom had nine groomsmen in total!
But Georgia was not to be outdone. A bride with a clear vision and expectation from the wedding and the photos. This is obvious when you're handed a 'pack' of the bridal details to shoot shortly after arriving. This is a fantastic idea - not something I necessarily insist on or will mention in the lead up - I'm there to capture the day as it unfolds. But if there are things you want captured, like the finer details, just let me know. Or hand me a wee bag of ribbons, invites etc.
I love writing these blogs (when there's time - wedding season is non-stop!). I get to share a bit about the day but more importantly I can share a few more photos from the day so you can see my style across more photos than those that make it to the 'gram.
If you've found this page and enjoyed reading it, and are looking for a wedding photographer or know someone who is, get in touch. I'd love to chat.
Congratulations Georgia & Tom!
